The theme I picked for this project was loss of innocence. My original plan was to center the entire series around two different colored balloons: one black and one white. The white one represents innocence while the black represents the loss of it. I took pictures of the balloons in front of my run-down play area from when I was a kid. Eventually, the balloons popped. This ended up working out for me, for the black balloon at least, However, because the balloons popped so soon and it was very windy out, I was unable to take ten usable photos. I then decided to take contrasting photos of the girl I babysit. I photographed her in high heals, holding a purse, and holding glow-sticks (which also represent innocence) in her family's pub. I decided to do this because it contrasts innocence with materialistic things that represent a loss of it. I picked this theme because although I don't play with dolls anymore, I am technically still a kid (I turn 18 in June) and in August I will be attending my first year of college which represents a huge step in growing up.
